Two newer domain businesses tie up.

OpusDNS, a domain reseller platform, announced today that it has acquired fruits.co, a domain sales and monetization platform.
Fruits launched in 2022 as a marketplace for a variety of digital goods and later narrowed its focus exclusively to domain names. Backed in part by Stefan Wiegard, co-founder of Team Internet, fruits built technology to simplify domain transactions across borders.
One of fruits’ distinguishing features is automated value-added tax (VAT) compliance for European sales. As fruits founder Dr. Fabian Heuschele explained, the platform automatically applies and remits the correct VAT when a domain is sold from one European country to a private buyer in another country, removing manual tax complexity for sellers.
By late 2025, fruits had grown its inventory to millions of domains listed on the platform. The company serves sellers beyond Europe as well, offering a sales service with a commission model and a separate domain monetization product.
OpusDNS is a newer entrant aiming to modernize the domain reseller market with a contemporary, efficient platform. Its founders include industry veterans such as Robbie Birkner, co-founder of Hexonet, and Hakan Ali, co-founder of InterNetX. The team’s experience in reseller platforms shaped OpusDNS’s approach to building tools that match how the internet and domain marketplaces operate today.
The two companies already had a working relationship: OpusDNS participated in fruits’ second funding round. The acquisition brings fruits’ VAT-compliant sales system, monetization capabilities, and domain inventory into the OpusDNS platform, while combining technical and market expertise from both teams.
This deal reflects consolidation in a growing segment of the domain industry, where modern platforms aim to simplify cross-border sales, tax compliance, and monetization for domain owners and brokers. By combining fruits’ European-focused tax automation and domain sales technology with OpusDNS’s reseller capabilities and team experience, the merged company intends to offer a more streamlined, compliant, and scalable solution for domain sellers worldwide.
Both companies have discussed their plans and progress in industry coverage and podcasts, detailing platform features, reseller market dynamics, and product roadmaps. The acquisition positions OpusDNS to accelerate product development and expand its marketplace offerings.
As the domain market evolves, platform providers that remove administrative friction — especially around tax compliance and international transactions — can make it easier for individuals and businesses to buy, sell, and monetize domain assets. This acquisition is a step toward that goal, combining complementary strengths to better serve sellers across regions.
