Fresh TLD registrations now up to at least 329

329 people have registered for ICANN’s fresh TLD system.

ICANN has updated its fresh top level domain program statistics to show that it has 329 registrants for its TLD Application System (TAS).

Each registrant can apply for up to 50 top level domains. So in theory, you could be looking at 16,450 fresh top level domains.

Still, most of these registrants are likely just for one or two top level domains. And not everyone who has registered will end up seeing their top level domain through to fruition. Some will drop out following the list of domains are exposed or due to government complaints. There will also be duplicate applications from competing entities.

It seems that the 1,000 to 1,500 estimate made by a bunch of industry players is still a good guess.
