User Domain Name Purchases — 36 End

Here are 36 domain names sold at Sedo recently that were purchased by end users.

Sedo had another strong batch of sales the prior week: 12 spanning $10k – $18k and another 4 ranging from $35k all the way up to $150k. Most of the big-ticket items couldn’t be pinned down conclusively – either since the domains are unused and under privacy or since the transfers remain incomplete. One $60k purchase – Employer.com – can be ascribed to a domain investor, but I haven’t yet asked him whether he intends to develop a website.

36 end users, though, I have tracked down. As with the prior week’s article, this list is a mixture of newly noted sales and domains that only just emerged from escrow.

AffordableMagic.com (€3900) – now belongs to AffordableTours.com.

AltHotel.com ($2500) – Groupe Germain Hospitalité runs a number of Canadian hotels, some of which it describes as “Alt Hotels”.

AxInter.com ($2000) – DipCon, a Swedish brand protection firm, grabbed this domain for Axel Johnson International, which is based at AxInter.se.

Bak.it (€781) – Munich-based Bakit helps firms do business in Eastern Europe. With no particular interest in Italy, they’ve purchased this domain purely as a “hack”.

BGEO.com ($10,000) – The Bank of Georgia – this Georgia, not Atlanta – purchased BGEO.com to go along with BankOfGeorgia.ge and BOG.ge.

Bumble.ch ($1000) – CSC procured this Swiss domain on behalf of Bumble.com, which appears to be a dating app. (Us bumbling single oafs need another layer of technology in order to meet people.)

Convertize.com ($3000) – RafflesMedia.com, specialists in website conversion-rate optimization, have moved beyond the verb “convert” and aren’t looking back.

Employment.pro ($1500) – decided that Jobss.pro [sic] with its 2 letter “S”s could be replaced with this more professional-looking option.

EncounterJesus.com ($7149) – now belongs to AG.org. The “Assemblies of God” describe themselves as “the world’s largest Pentecostal denomination with some 67 million members and adherents”.

FanRewards.com ($16,000) – Hong Kong app development firm Onoko.com has (alongside other products) an app called Fan Check with “20 million users”. The CEO just added another “fan” name.

FernandoElizondo.mx ($1028) – Here’s a riddle: Why was Mexican senator Fernando Elizondo Barragán using the ccTLD of the Netherlands? Since he acted as interim Governor of Nuevo León. He’s still to be found at .NL.

GaleriaLodzka.pl (€4500) – paid a lot of money to overcome a hyphen. It’s not an art gallery but rather a mall: “160 shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants”.

Gerueste.com (€2450) – Cetrac.eu makes scaffolding – “gerüste” in German. The IDN, which they don’t yet own, remains parked.

HaftpflichtversicherungVergleich.de (€7500) – I understand these 8 syllables and 32 letters to mean “liability insurance comparison”. The buyer, BeyondBits Media Ltd. “is an online Marketing firm focusing on Financial Services”.

Host1.com (£2000) – Host1Plus.com minus the “plus”.

IHSI.net ($3140) – was purchased by the owners of the .ORG, but their main site is ImmanuelCommunities.com. The firm operates a network of senior living communities.

Inteligentia.com ($1750) – was bought by the Diligentia Group, a firm that performs due diligence investigations. Since they’re in the business of gathering intelligence, this similar sounding name must be for their own use – either as a rebrand or a spinoff.

Invibes.com ($2744) – Invibes Advertising, headquartered in Belgium and France, appears to have always owned this domain … even though they just purchased it. Apparently, the firm was founded in 2010; but I haven’t discovered what domain they used prior to this.

KulturGut.Bayern (€2000) – KulturGut by now owned Germany (.DE) but has purchased a more focused address for Bavaria, Germany’s largest state. Since their website celebrates Bayern in a straightforward way, selling souvenirs from clothing to mugs, the purchase makes sense.

Melitta.co.uk (€8000) – Melitta is a coffee brand whose products range from instant decaf to coffee machines. They by now have websites at Melitta.com, Melitta.de, Melitta-Professional.de, Melitta.info, MelittaSystemService.com, and so forth.

MesotheliomaTreatmentCenters.com ($999) – Disease and lawyers go together. In this case, the domain ought to provide leads for HelbockLaw.com.

Mobimax.net ($1000) – The stated goal of Broadwand.com is “affordable internet access for the next five billion”. Mobimax may be a related initiative.

NexTravel.com ($3999) – is by now developed for business travel. I’m not sure if they upgraded from a preexisting domain or launched fully formed; but their logo differs from an identically named Spanish travel site, NexTravel.es, suggesting that the two are not affiliated.

OrderACab.com ($1000) – is now owned by SuperShuttle.com, which concentrates on airport transportation.

ProMerch.com ($5000) – used to be MyProMerch.com. They sell athletic merchandise such as T-shirts.

RealtyGroup.com ($777) – provides a shorter web address for SmartSolutionsRealty.com.

Rodamoto.com ($1099) – sells tires throughout Europe, from Sweden to Bosnia; yet their address remains .ES for Spain. Sounds to me like their footprint outgrew their old shoes. So this .COM may be a better fit.

Sensor.in ($1500) –North America Wave Spectrum Science and Trade Inc. can also be found at WaveSpectrum.us. They’re an engineering firm specializing in vibration sensors.

SingleboersenVergleich.ch (€750) – You’ll find much the same dating website at Singleboersen-Vergleich.de. In this case, they’ve opted for a non-hyphenated Swiss variant to go with their hyphenated German version.

Sirturo.cn ($1888) – Even with Sirturo.com by now under lock and key, Johnson & Johnson procured this Chinese domain. The drug Sirturo treats “pulmonary multi-drug resistant tuberculosis“.

StopMedicareFraud.com ($1999) – JMARK, a firm that “eliminates technology pain & helps you achieve positive business outcomes” must have a client in this area.

SuperNovaGame.com ($3244) – The buyer, Primal Game Studio, “is a game development startup right now working on multiple unannounced PC titles”. Well, we know one title now, don’t we.

Tik.me ($700) – was picked up by the CEO of TikForce, a tool for managing mobile workers. What’s truly bizarre, though, is that I found this same CEO singing the praises of an obscure character, Tik Tok, from an obscure Disney film, “Return to Oz”, which I remember from my childhood. Guess he likes Tiks …

TOEFLTutor.com ($2500) – TOEFL stands for the “Test of English as a Foreign Language”. Columbia PhD candidate, Joern Meissner, wrote a test-prep book called “Turbocharge Your TOEFL”; and now he’s purchased this domain. But for fun he thinks regarding “Partitioning Heuristics for the Multi-Item Capacitated Lot Sizing Problem” … whatever those and that are.

UmbraTech.com ($2400) – is short for the buyer, UmbraTechnologies.com, who aim to accelerate internet connections.

Wimpernverlaengerung.ch (€721) – Eyelash extensions for the Swiss. Permanent-Aesthetics.ch was the buyer.
