Warner Bros. Discovery (NYSE: WBD) is changing the name of its Max streaming service. It’s changing it to…wait for it…HBO Max. Yep, it’s going back to its old name.

The streaming service is popular for its library of HBO hits and more recent content such as The Last of Us and The Pitt. It also airs sports events from TBS and TNT.

Its rebrand from HBO Max to just Max in 2023 was controversial due to the brand reputation of HBO.

As part of the rebrand, the firm purchased the domain name Max.com.

Domain broker Joe Uddeme recounted the story of pitching the domain to the firm on Reglike Podcast #448.

Uddeme stated he didn’t think the firm would have considered buying the domain had it not been pitched to them.

In October 2023, the firm that sold the domain to Warner Bros. Discover filed to go public. An SEC filing revealed that it sold the domain for approximately $1.8 million.
