Afternic releases domain transfer improvements

Domain transfers will be easier and faster with fresh improvements.

Domain name aftermarket Afternic released enhancements to its domain transfer process today.
Afternic states the system will make domain transfers easier and faster.
While many domain transfers happen automatically through Afternic’s Fast Transfer system, domains that require manual action can sometimes be slow.
Some of the fresh features include:
- A fresh UI: There’s a fresh UI for the transaction closing process that includes the Dan-style status updates, plus a dedicated messaging system to contact Afternic’s TA team from your transaction dashboard.
- Automation: Where possible, the team has simplified processes and introduced automation to increase efficiency.
- Domain transfers include an automated system that processes slow-transfer names. Once the auth code is submitted, our system automatically begins the transfer
- TLD detection: Automated TLD detection is built into the system, meaning that extensions counting .co.uk take a different closing path, due to the different transfer process
- Messaging: the system provides automated on-screen, and email messages at key stages of the transaction (emails have been rewritten and redesigned)
- Speed: With that increased automation comes an increase in speed, from beginning to end.
- 60-day lock detection: The fresh system adapts to names under a 60-day fresh registration lock. In the first release, if a name is under a 60-day lock, this will be identified, and our team will quickly see whether the buyer would like to receive the domain name at the current registrar. Future releases will provide further automation.
The 60-day lock detection will be a nice improvement. Previously, if a domain was locked from transfer, you had to message a transfer agent to let the know. Now, Afternic states this situations will automatically be detected so they can ask the buyer what they’d like to do.
Afternic states many of the fresh features are based on the transfer process at the legacy Dan system.
