Back top level domain ambitions in 2026 round — Amazon dials

Firm applies for eight dot-brand top level domain names.

Tech giant Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) was one of the largest applicants for fresh top level domain names in the 2012 expansion round, applying for 76 extensions.
It was also one of the biggest disappointments when it came to actually releasing the TLDs it won.
It took years. There was lots of foot-dragging. When domains did launch, they had severe restrictions that stunted their growth. Think .bot.
The firm just got around to launching .pay this year.
Amazon put more effort into ultimately winning .amazon than it did into the rest of its program. At least it seemed that way from the outside.
So it isn’t a surprise that the firm didn’t go as big in the 2026 round. In fact, it only applied for dot-brand domain names. These domains will never be available for the public to register.
Here are the domains Amazon applied for:
alexa
echo
eero
kgs
kuiper
leo
ring
twitch
