Sets Up Registry Infrastructure in the U.S. — AusRegistry Rebrands

Firm drops the Australia reference in name and offers two locations for registry services.
Are U.S. firms more comfortable with a registry services provider in their home country?
It appears so.
AusRegistry International has changed its name to ARI Registry Services and is setting up registry infrastructure for its fresh TLD offerings in the U.S. in addition to Australia.
The AusRegistry name clearly screamed “Australia”.
A press release regarding the change states that CEO Adrian Kinderis “explained that there is a misguided sentiment in the market that registry performance is significantly affected due to location. Still, he explained that this was not a driver for the decision.”
The firm stated adding a U.S. registry location will allow potential fresh top level domain applicants a choice of location to address “concerns regarding overzealous governments, privacy and ownership laws, political environments and financial benefits counting currency fluctuations. There is also the added peace of mind that comes with having a registry closer to headquarters.”
