Or SurfBook? One Domain Changed Hands. — Blackberry SurfBoard
The guessing game continues regarding RIM’s tablet name.
The prior week someone sent me a tip that Research in Motion filed trademark applications that might be related to its upcoming tablet. It looks like some of the tech press has picked up on the name “Surfbook” today due to RIM’s trademark filing.
But the firm recently filed a couple different trademarks, counting for Blackberry Surfboard and Blackberry Surfbook. It’s really difficult to tell if either of these are related to tablet, as the fields of use include just regarding everything under the sun from key fobs to mobile phones to GPS instruments. They could just as easily be the names of fresh Blackberry Phones.
One domain has changed hands recently, though: Surfbook.com. It was owned by someone in Germany until August 31, at which point it was transferred to an outfit called Name Advisers. The next day it was protected by whois privacy.
Surfboard is by now a Motorola product and they own Surfboard.com. Someone has by now snatched up BlackberrySurfbook.com.
At this point it’s all a guessing game. But either of these sure beat BlackPad.
