14 TLDs but .SK deal delayed — CentralNic adds
KSRegistry deal brings total TLDs managed to 65.
Domain name firm CentralNic (London AIM:CNIC) made two announcements today involving top level domain names.
First, it has signed a deal with KSRegistry to handle registry services for the 14 TLDs KSRegistry inherited when it purchased Open Registry from Group NCC this year. (I reached out to KSRegistry to understand how it is servicing other TLDs not mentioned in the deal but have not heard back.) This will increase CentralNic’s stable of TLDs it manages to 65.
Second, CentralNic states its deal to acquire SK-NIC’s assets for running Slovakia’s .sk domain name has been delayed “due to complexities in legal processes”. CentralNic disclosed the €26 million buyout in August. Many people in Slovakia are opposed to the deal. I reached out to CentralNic CEO Ben Crawford for comment and he stated it’s just some slow legal processes.
