CentralNic revenue doubled in 2018

Acquisitions boost CentralNic in 2018.
Domain name firm CentralNic (London AIM: CNIC) noted full year 2018 results today.
The firm’s revenue doubled to £42.7 million and gross profit was up 69% to £19.7m.
Adjusted EBITDA, which excludes share based payments, expense for options, premium domain sales, foreign exchange, and non core operating costs, was up 66% to £7.0m.
The boost came courtesy of the firm’s buyout of KeyDrive last year. It also purchased the .sk country code manager just ahead of 2018. .Sk contributed £1.7 to EBITDA in 2018.
In its earnings note, the firm made it clear that it plans to grow by acquiring more firms.
It’s encouraging that the firm is getting off the premium domain treadmill — it even removed premium domain revenue from its main revenue number. Whether that was by choice or necessity, it bodes well for future years. The firm had essentially no premium domain revenue in 2018; it had £3.0m in 2017.
