CompareNow.com buys Compare.com domain name

Auto insurance comparison site upgrades its domain name.

CompareNow.comAuto insurance comparison firm CompareNow.com has purchased the domain name Compare.com, as stated by Whois records.

CompareNow.com was founded by Andrew Rose, previously the chairman and CEO of Elephant Auto Insurance.

If that name sounds familiar, it might be since the firm unsuccessfully tried to get the domain name Elephant.com from Adam Dicker through a UDRP in 2005. It later purchased the domain name.

CompareNow.com, like Elephant, is backed by Admiral Group. This time (it seems) it decided to purchase a great domain name legitimately.

As stated by historical whois records, the domain name was owned by Oversee.net earlier this year. The Oversee.net portfolio was purchased by Rook Media, so it’s possible Rook and its broker Igloo.com were responsible for making the sale.

The domain went into whois privacy at Dynadot last month ahead of changing to Brand Certified, a domain buyout group, a few days ago. The whois record just switched to CompareNow.

CompareNow.com apparently has over $10 million in financial backing .

I have reached out to the firm for comment.
