.Com’s winners and losers update

Rightside had a good December in terms of transfer gains.

ICANN has published Verisign’s .com transaction note from December, giving us an idea of which domain name registrars are winning and losing clients through transfers.

eNom had the biggest net gain from transfers, while Moniker had the biggest net outflow. Here are the top 5* net winners from December:

1. eNom +26,948
2. Uniregistrar +13,842
3. NameSilo +6,829
4. Name.com +6,044 (same firm as eNom)
5. HiChina +5,699

* I’ve ignored registrars that don’t appear to serve the general public

And here are the five registrars with the biggest outflows:

1. Moniker -21,238
2. DomainDiscover -21,083
3. Melbourne IT -14,666
4. Network Solutions -8,388
5. Tucows -8,274

Transfers aren’t the only useful measuring stick for domain name registrars, of course. Here are the top 5 in terms of .com domain names registered in December:

1. GoDaddy 794,144
2. eNom 157,459
3. PublicDomainRegistry 113,139
4. Xin Net 105,555
5. HiChina 105,210
