DNW: Can you tell us about your background and involvement in the domain name industry?

Stefitz: Certainly. I am originally from Austria but have been living in Spain for the past 30 years. My journey in the Internet business began in 1994, when I registered my first domain name. Since then, I have been passionate about bridging the gap between the real and virtual worlds. In 2000, I pioneered the creation of virtual trade shows and a virtual business center, making them accessible in four languages. Prior to that, in 1999, I assisted PSINET with significant acquisitions in Europe and served as Vice-President of Anprotel, a constituency member of EUROISPA. In 2008, I sold my company, Bemarnet, and have since dedicated my efforts to organizing domain events. I am also a partner in inverdom.com, where we manage a focused portfolio of Spanish keyword domains. Furthermore, I am actively working to establish the European Domainers Club, accessible at d-e.club.

DNW: What is the history of Domaining Europe, and how has it evolved over the years?

Stefitz: Domaining Europe began in 2008 as a local domain conference called Domaining Spain. The inaugural event took place at a beautiful beach location in Valencia and attracted around 30 domainers. Since then, the conference has been held annually in Valencia, steadily growing in size and scope. Last year, we welcomed 126 attendees, a testament to the event’s increasing popularity and relevance within the domain name community.

A Truly International Audience: Connecting Domain Investors from Around the Globe

DNW: What is the typical attendee mix in terms of geographic representation, specifically between Europe and outside of Europe?

Stefitz: Typically, around 70% of our attendees are from Europe, while the remaining 30% come from the USA and other parts of the world. In total, we have had the pleasure of hosting visitors from over 25 countries, including Australia and Israel, making Domaining Europe a truly international event.
