Distil Networks purchases Are You a Human, offers free bot tool for Google Analytics

Get a better understanding of your web traffic following stripping out the bots.

Distil networks, an internet security firm focused on bots, has purchased Are You a Human and will offer a free bot detecting tool as a result of the buyout.

Distil Bot Discovery for Google Analytics is a free simple-to-integrate tool for Google Analytics that helps you understand your true traffic following bots are excluded. As stated by the firm, Google’s own bot filtering only handles regarding 1% of bots.

This site was hit with bot attacks last year. It was mostly a nuisance when it came to understanding my web traffic, but bots can be an even bigger deal for commerce sites. They can mess up your split testing, eat up resources and click your ads.

I imagine this fresh service is free since it will generate leads for Distil’s paid bot blocking services. It also gives the firm more data.
