So far the firm hasn’t sent any communication to its clients. I reached out to the firm this morning for comment and will update this story as I learn more.

An outtage like this can certainly affect clients, from the inability to change nameservers to transferring and renewing domain names. But this sort of thing happens, and the key is to communicate well with clients.

Consider the recent database problems at FreshDrop. The firm quickly notified clients via email regarding the problem and explained the exact steps the firm was taking to restore the database.

Last year domain registrar Dynadot faced two days of downtime. Clients were frustrated not just by the downtime, but by the lack of communication from the firm during the outtage.
