Escrow.com: .com Domain Hits Record High as .ai Market Stabilizes

.Com domain transactions reach record levels at Escrow.com

Escrow.com chart showing record high .com volume
.Com sales reached an all-time quarterly high at Escrow.com in the first quarter of the year.

Escrow.com published its Q1 Domain Investment Index today, offering a closer look at domain sales activity for the quarter.

The company had already reported $128 million in domain transactions for Q1, its strongest quarterly total in three years. The newly released index breaks down that total by domain category and price metrics.

Key findings from the report include:

  • .com domains drove $89 million in transaction value, the highest quarterly amount Escrow.com has recorded for the TLD.
  • .ai domain transaction value edged down 3% to $10.0 million this quarter, effectively plateauing. Even so, .ai sales are roughly three times higher than they were a year earlier.
  • One-word .com domains posted an average sale price of $402,000, though averages can be distorted by a small number of very large deals.
  • The median domain sale price was $5,369, surpassing the median price of actively traded websites for the first time. The shift may reflect reduced trading in content-driven sites, a move some attribute to changes brought by AI.
