First 12 Fresh TLD string confusion objections denied

ICDR panels deny first 12 string confusion objections.

The International Centre for Dispute Resolution has issued its first 12 decisions regarding string confusion objections for fresh top level domain names.

All 12 objections were denied.

The denied objections were:

Universal Postal Union vs. Deutsche Post AG for .epost

The UPU operates the .post top level domain name.

Verisign vs. Google for .fresh
Verisign vs. NEC for .NEC
Verisign vs. Donuts for .Vet
Verisign vs. Google for .pet

Verisign has the contract to run the .net top level domain name.

Google vs. Donuts for .cars

Google applied for .car.

Hotel Top-Level-Domain S.a.r.l for .hotels

The objector applied for .hotel.

Neustar vs. Google for .gbiz

Neustar runs the .biz top level domain.

Verisign vs. TV Sundram Iyengar & Sons Limited for .tvs
Verisign vs. ITV Services Limited for .itv

Verisign runs the .tv country code top level domain name.

Merck & Co Inc vs. Merck KGaA for .emerck

The objector applied for .merck.

Montenegro vs. Google for .meme

Montenegro’s country code domain is .me.

These results ought to not come as a surprise given the string similarity reviews by now undertaken at ICANN. Although those tests were just for visual similarity, they set the tone for formal string confusion objections.
