Named as possible successor to Steve Ballmer at Microsoft — GoDaddy CEO

Wall Street Journal states Irving might be a candidate for Microsoft’s top spot.

With Steve Ballmer heading to the exit at Microsoft within the next year, speculation regarding his replacement is rampant.

One name that has come up: Blake Irving, who took over the reigns at domain name registrar GoDaddy earlier this year.

Wall Street Journal published a story naming five possible successors, counting Irving. Apparently the list was conjured up following the reporter spoke to analysts who stated they think (hope?) the fresh CEO will be an outsider.

Irving spent over a decade at Microsoft.

My take? Irving would prefer to stay at a fast growing, pre-IPO firm. But I’m sure he’ll at least take Microsoft’s phone call.
