GoDaddy Client Commercials Follow the Same Script
Registrar getting lots of commercial submissions — but few good ones.
Following critics panned Go Daddy’s Super Bowl commercials (again) this year, the firm went to the marketing playbook and created a contest for clients to make their own commercials. The top prize is $100,000, which would buy you regarding 10,000 domain names.
I expected clients to move away from the traditional Go Daddy commercial script of just throwing in some hot chicks acting like they’re stripping. But I was wrong. Most of the submissions are the same old thing. Granted, some of them are a bit more outside-the-box since the producers couldn’t rely on just putting a celebrity like Danica Patrick on the screen. But it’s mostly just a bit of domain talk and then sexual innuendo. It’s difficult to direct link to the videos, but here are a few of the “same old same old”:
Rhyme Time
Go Daddy IT Guy
Lollipops
Threesome
She Can Stay
Oh well. Maybe the reason people are submitting commercials isn’t so much for the prize money. Instead, it’s just a way for guys to convince their female friends to dress scantily for the video.
“You’re going to be a big star, baby!”
