HomeAway gets 161 domain names with Stayz buyout
HomeAway’s buyout of Stayz included a number of descriptive Australian ccTLD domain names.
Earlier this month vacation rental firm HomeAway bought Australian competitor Stayz for a little over $200 million.
The SEC filing regarding the buyout lists 161 domain names (pdf) that were included in the deal.
In addition to the many defensive brand registrations, it’s interesting to see some of the generic/descriptive domain names Stayz registered for its business.

Some of these may have previously been used as actual websites.
It appears the firm also paid for blocking of Stayz.xxx, and they’re trying to figure out how to “transfer” this block. The filing also notes a difficulty transferring holidayrentals.asn.au and holidayrentals.org.au.
