Wants to trademark “Premium Domain” — Huh. Guy

And he proves that it’s a descriptive term on his website.

Specimen from trademark application for Premium Domain

A Houston man has filed a trademark application for the term “Premium Domain”.

The application lists two identifications: “Brand development marketing and evaluation services in the field of trademarks, trade names, and domain names” and “Licensing of intellectual property, and, licensing of intellectual property rights, namely, trademarks, copyrights and domain names, leasing of internet domain names, and domain name registration services, namely, conducting domain name searches for the purpose of providing legal advice on domain name registration.”

The first use date is May 29, 2019.

Of course, premium domain is a common term for domain names. And the specimen attached to the application gets even weirder (see picture above). If you go to the website this screenshot is from, appship.co, you’ll see screenshots of the domain AppShip.co listed on various websites that say it’s a premium domain, ostensibly since it’s listed for sale through Afternic. Here’s one example:

The effect of all of these examples is to show that premium domain is a common term.
