ICANN selects second URS provider

Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre second to sign up with ICANN for rapid domain suspension system.

ADNDRCICANN has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC) to be a provider under Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS).

URS is sort quick and less expensive version of UDRP in which a winning complainant does not get control of the infringing domain name but it is taken offline. URS only applies to the fresh top level domains that will start rolling out this year…at least for now.

In February ICANN named National Arbitration Forum as the first group to handle URS cases.

Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre handles a relatively modest number of UDRP cases compared to National Arbitration Forum. I rarely write regarding ADNDRC cases since they are often written in Asian languages.

One of the keys to URS cases will be the speed in which the parties interact. As of right now ADNDRC has an “online domain name dispute resolution system”, but it appears it is online only in as much as complainants can upload their documents online.
