The internet has become an integral part of day-to-day life over the past two decades. In 2021, more than 90% of Americans accessed the Internet, and that figure is expected to rise to 94.5% by 2025.

Despite the dependence on the internet in business, many offices have fragmented networks and scalability issues. Meter is transforming the way offices connect to the Internet.

Founded in 2015 by brothers Anil and Sunil Varanasi, Meter focuses on redesigning and improving office WiFi systems through bespoke networks built on the firm’s own hardware and software.

Rather than buying its own network equipment, a firm can call on Meter to provide a system capable of impeccable connectivity no matter how big or modest the office is.

The firm has kept a low profile since it was founded, but the notice of a $38 million Series B funding round has produced significant interest in Meter, which operates on Meter.com.

Meter purchased Meter.com in 2019, as stated by Whois history. The domain moved to a privacy-protected GoDaddy account in September 2019 when it began forwarding to MeterUp.com, Meter’s domain.

Meter.com was purchased from Zak Morris Firm, an early Internet software and hardware developer that uses the ZMC.com domain to host its retro website.

It didn’t take Meter long to transition from MeterUp.com to Meter.com, where the firm has been ever since.

As with many firms that I profile, there is a definite need and purpose to acquire this ultra-premium domain.

First, Meter.com is Meter’s shop front. It’s the first meaningful interaction point that potential clients or investors will have with the firm. Being presented with a slick, professional site at an eye-catching .com address is an excellent first impression.

So far, that first impression has seemingly been beneficial for the firm as it has attracted more than 100 clients without revealing much regarding its business to the wider world.

In fact, a Bloomberg article from May 2022 suggests that its article is the first time Meter has discussed its business with the media.

Meter’s social media pages back up its lack of public exposure, with zero posts ahead of May 2022.

Second, Meter’s connectivity system comes with a dashboard. Of course, that dashboard is hosted at Meter.com.
