One million .VIP registrations — MMX targets

Firm anticipates rapid growth in .VIP namespace; targets fall for .Boston launch.

MMX (a.k.a. Minds + Machines) released a business update today and stated it is targeting one million .vip registrations by the end of 2017.

The .vip namespace right now has over 586,000 registrations, primarily in China. The firm is targeting additional distribution in Asia and has inked a deal with Japans’ GMO to push the .vip extension.

eName is right now running an auction that has generated approximately USD $160,000 in .vip sales within the first five days.

On the geo domain front, MMX stated it plans to launch .Boston in September. It has also signed a deal with a distribution partner that it believes “ought to lead to a material increase of registrations in two of the Firm’s geographic gTLDs over the next twelve months.”
