Launch hotel brand? Domain names suggest so — MTV to

Viacom registers domain names that suggest it’s getting ready to launch a hotel and resort chain tied to iconic MTV brand.

mtvIs MTV getting ready to launch its own line of hotels and resorts?

MTV parent firm Viacom registered a number of domain names today suggesting that it might:

mtvhotelandresort.com
mtvhotelandresorts.com
mtvhotelmexico.com
mtvhotelplayadelcarmen.com
mtvresort.com
mtvresortmexico.com
mtvresortplayadelcarmen.com
mtvresorts.com

These could just be for a fresh reality show, but the names seem geared to the launch of an actual brand. The first stop appears to be Playa del Carmen.

It could also be a licensing deal to a firm that will launch the fresh hotel brand, which would presumably be a big Spring Break destination.
