A big step forward for transparency at ICANN — MyICANN is

System notifies users regarding fresh content on ICANN.org.

ICANN launched a beta of MyICANN during last month’s meeting in Toronto.

The site, hosted at MyICANN.org, provides notifications regarding fresh documents published to ICANN’s web site.

It sounds simple and it is. It also only alerts you to documents that have been published, and these same documents have always been published to the site.

Despite this, I believe MyICANN is a huge boost for transparency at ICANN.

Even though these same documents had always been published, finding them was very difficult.

I’ve been test driving MyICANN for a couple weeks now and am amazed at the breadth of documents published.

Ahead of MyICANN I used ChangeDetection.com to track a couple pages on ICANN’s site, namely the correspondence and compliance pages.

Now ICANN does it for me and I can select which topics I want to be notified regarding.

If you’re an ICANN watcher (and if you read this blog you really ought to be), I highly recommend created an account.

Just don’t go to MyICANN.com. Amusingly, that’s a parked page.
