Fresh top level domain reveal day set for October 7

All 1,616 applications and replacement strings will be revealed next Thursday.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the day many of you have been waiting for is next week.

ICANN’s Reveal Day for fresh TLDs is set for October 7. At 18:00 UTC, the organization will disclose all 1,616 applications for top level domains and their replacement strings.

The organization will also disclose all known contention sets and the public portions of each application.

While many applicants have self-disclosed, much information is still missing. We’ll find out which of Link Freedom Group’s disclosed strings are primary and which are replacements. We’ll find out which strings some larger applicants applied for, such as Identity Digital and GoDaddy.

We’ll also find out if any “applicants” were full of B.S.

From October 8-21, applicants can opt to go with their replacement string instead of the primary string. Replacement strings cannot be used if they match another applicant’s primary or replacement string.

Then, on November 17, ICANN will present the final list, which will have updated contention set information.
