Newfold Digital purchases WordPress SEO plugin Yoast

Web presence firm adds SEO capabilities and 12 million users.

Newfold Digital, the firm that owns Network Solutions, Register.com, BlueHost, Domain.com and other web presence brands, has purchased Yoast.

Yoast makes the de facto search engine optimization plugin for WordPress sites. It’s installed on 12 million WordPress sites.

The buyout gives Newfold fresh capabilities in SEO and social media. It also gives it a direct connection to 12 million website owners who might be interested in purchasing its other products.

Private equity firm Clearlake Capital took Endurance International Group private this year and then purchased Web.com.  Siris Capital, which owned Web, rolled its equity into the fresh entity. The firm renamed itself Newfold Digital.
