Price Top Requirements for Domain Registrars — Security and

Domain registrants look for security and price when selecting a domain registrar.

Domain registrars need to focus on security and price if they want to win your business, as stated by a survey of over 1,500 people in the domain name industry.

As usual, participants in Reglike’s annual survey stated security was the most notable factor when considering a domain name registrar. 31% picked it as the top factor and 20% selected it as second most notable.

Price was runner up with 26% saying it is most notable and 25% saying it is second most notable.

The least notable factor? How the firm handles expiring domain names (e.g. if they auction them off, keep them for themselves, etc.). This makes sense given that domain name investors are less likely to neglect to renew a domain than the general public.

Here’s the rank order of factors cited by survey respondents:

1. Security
2. Price
3. Client service
4. Account management tools
5. Value added services
6. Intra-registrar transfers
7. What they do with expired domains
