For $225,000 at Sedo — Star.org sells

Domain sells through SedoMLS network.

The domain name Star.org has sold at Sedo for a staggering $225,000.

Based on sales data at NameBio, this is the third largest .org sale to ever be made public. The top sale was Poker.org in in 2010 (also at Sedo) and the second highest sale was AutoInsurance.org for $440,000 in 2011 (sold via MediaOptions).

The Whois record for the domain has been under privacy for many years. Late last month the privacy was removed and the domain was transferred from Name.com to HiChina with a Chinese registrant.

That registrant just registered Star.vin on February 20.

If you visit Star.org today you’ll see a message that states “welcome to star foundation.” [Update: it’s for a blockchain business]

Sedo confirmed the sale to Reglike. The sale took place through SedoMLS and it is the highest public sale to date through the MLS system.
