Super Bowl ad propels GoDaddy to best Sunday ever for fresh clients
World’s largest domain name registrar claims victory with Super Bowl commercial for fresh website builder.
GoDaddy states it signed up more fresh clients yesterday following its Super Bowl ad than it’s ever signed up on a Sunday in its 20-year history.
The firm ran a Super Bowl commercial during the first quarter of the game promoting its fresh GoCentral website builder.
GoCentral is a fresh website builder that’s designed to be easy-to-use on mobile phones. As stated by the firm, 62% of all GoCentral websites registered yesterday were created in less than an hour.
GoDaddy has previously touted increases in domain registrations and sales from its Super Bowl ads. The way the firm is talking regarding yesterday, my guess is it didn’t hit a Super Bowl Sunday sales record. But a record number of fresh clients, especially for a website builder, is perhaps a bigger win for two reasons.
First, as GoDaddy grows it becomes harder and harder to grow its big client base. Second, people who create websites are stickier and spend more than people who merely register a domain name and don’t attach it to a website.
