SXSW comes to Austin this stretch

Annual tech, film and music conference starts this stretch.

The annual SXSW event starts in Austin this stretch. SXSW Interactive, which attracts tens of thousands of techies, runs March 8-12.

I reviewed the schedule and it looks like there aren’t any domain name-specific sessions this year. There used to be a handful of sessions, especially when fresh top level domain names were coming out.

Still, I expect some domain name firms to run marketing during the event, although nothing like in the past. .Co always went big during SXSW and Sedo organized some rather sizable promotions as well, counting a Domain Village. If your firm will be on the ground in Austin over the next week, feel free to leave a comment.

If you are coming, please bring your patience. For the first time since it became big, SXSW will not overlap with local schools’ Spring Breaks, counting the University of Texas. It will be very congested.
