I was recently a guest on the Ecommerce Traffic & Conversion Podcast, which is geared toward ecommerce site owners. We discussed:

  • The importance of a memorable, easy-to-spell domain name
  • .Com versus other extensions, and when other top level domains might make sense for ecommerce sites
  • Buying domains with a search engine history
  • Why it’s worth spending money for an aftermarket domain name (and where to find them)

I enjoy going on podcasts that aren’t regarding domain names to spread the word regarding their importance. One of the key things I always try to leave with the audience is that they shouldn’t give up on a domain just since it’s registered. Depending on the name, they might be able to acquire it for a reasonable price. The domain will pay marketing dividends for years to come.
