Of building web apps seems to be driving aftermarket sales in 2026 — The ease

Four out of five domains I’ve sold this year have by now been developed.
One explanation for an increase in aftermarket domain sales this year is that it’s become so easy for people to develop websites and apps.
A couple of years ago, a complex site required hiring a developer or coding it yourself.
Now, thanks to artificial intelligence, anyone can build a complex website, and they can do it quickly.
One place I’ve seen this bear out is in the usage of the domains I’ve sold.
Of the 27 domains I sold by mid-September, 22 have by now been developed as of October 1. Four out of five have by now been turned into websites or forwarded to an active website.
Compare that to last year. Fewer than half of my sales from 2025 have become active websites, even though more time has passed.
Even my 2024 sales are less than half developed.
I believe the ease of building websites is having a big impact on domain transactions.
