Gets default against Egypt.com domain name — U.S. government

Government alleges that domain name was purchased with illicit funds.

The U.S. government will soon own the valuable egypt.com domain name.
The government filed an in rem lawsuit (pdf) in July to seize the domain name, alleging that it was purchased with illicitly obtained funds.
In the suit, the government alleged that the person who operated the darknet marketplace Abacus Market, which facilitated drug trafficking, is the ultimate owner of the domain name.
The government published the seizure on forfeiture.gov for 30 days, through August 22. Unsurprisingly, no one showed up to defend the domain name.
Yesterday, the government filed for an entry of default, and Judge Raul M. Arias-Marxuach signed it.
