Woman arrested following being accused of taking former employer’s domain names

Woman accused of taking control of domain names she registered on behalf of former employer.

A Steamboat Springs woman has been arrested for theft following allegedly taking control of her former employer’s domain names.

The news was first noted in Steamboat Today.

Donna “Tonie” Roberts was given a firm credit card and was asked to register domains for Ghost Ranch Restaurant when she was employed there.

Following she left, she allegedly called Go Daddy to “shut down” the domain names. She was able to do this since she was listed as the contact on whois and the account.

Court records show the domains Roberts registered on behalf of the firm were:

GhostRanch.co
GhostRanchRestaurant.com/.info
SteamboatGhostRanch.com/.info
Ghost-Ranch.com/.net/.info
GhostRanchSteamboat.com/.info

There are a number of lessons in this. If you’re a modest business owner, it’s imperative that you register the firm’s domains with only you listed as the contact.
