$19k and other NameJet Expired Domain Name Sales — Xixia.com at

Reviewing the past week of expired domain name sales at NameJet.

China reclaims the top spot among this past week’s expired domain auctions at NameJet. For 12 out of the past 30 weeks, the top sale (out of the auctions I’ve covered) has been attributable to the Chinese domain market. The prior week, CarAds.com reigned supreme. This time it’s Xixia.com ($19.5k), a county in Henan province or (alternatively) a district of Yinchuan city.

The phrase NewLogic.com suggests disruptive innovation. It’s edgy but feels right. At $12.6k, the name is more likely to brand the back side of jeans or consumer electronics than go to the intellectual heirs of Bertrand Russell.

A number of exact-match, shippable-product domains did well – from clothing accessories such as Shawls.com ($6.9k) to ElectricHeaters.com ($3.8k) and PaperLanterns.com ($3.2k). We can extend that list still further if we go beyond exact matches to point-of-purchase e-commerce domains like CarpetSale.com ($3.1k) and BuyAmmo.com ($2.8k).

I’m a bit surprised by SleepStudy.com’s $4.3k finish, since medical studies tend to be temporary and have a relatively easy time attracting guinea pigs. But making such an observation at 2:42 a.m., I’m clearly no expert on sleep.

ClubHavana.com, on the other hand, I expected to go higher than $1.8k, since Havana.club sold for $8k last August. Multiple end users ought to want the name apart from that buyer.

Budde.com ($3.1k) might be intended for Budde.com.au, which describes itself as “the largest telecommunications research site on the internet” yet is confined to the ccTLD for Australia. Solicitors, as many of you by now know, are a species of British lawyer – barristers being another. Australia and other former British colonies might have a shared interest in FamilySolicitors.com ($498) and EmploymentSolicitors.com ($411).

Sankalp.com ($1.6k) is a Sanskrit-derived Hindu term, somewhat intricate as a philosophical idea but loosely meaning intention or will. It’s also the name of a multi-brand food franchise in India, various Indian restaurants in the USA, and an ambitious global development initiative.

Bosson.com ($1.7k) isn’t the subatomic particle named for Einstein’s Indian colleague; it’s a Swedish singer songwriter guilty of insipid, derivative euro-pop. Speaking of Sweden, Draken.com ($2.1k) was a Swedish-made fighter jet.

FeedAggregation.com ($365) follows close on the heels of Aggregation.com, whose sale I just noted. I think TravelersWorld.com ($140) is a strong word pairing; and I hope it’s put to use more globally than as a local RV park.

There isn’t time to touch on everything. Do we dare discuss TheCIA.com ($786)? Sssssshhh! They’re listening!
