A fresh Afternic on the way this stretch
A completely refreshed Afternic.com will be released this stretch.
On Friday Afternic sent a notice to its registered users that the site is getting a major overhaul sometime this stretch.
When I was at Afternic’s office back in July they gave me a sneak peek of the fresh system. From what I saw, the fresh site will be a huge improvement.
Both major domain name marketplaces — Afternic and Sedo — were originally built for the old way of selling domain names. Back then almost all domains were sold through negotiation or auction. There were few fixed price sales, little distribution of domain sales listings, and no instant-transfer technologies.
As these have been layered in, the marketplaces have shoe-horned the fresh processes into old systems.
Afternic’s release this stretch will be more of a complete overhaul designed for the fresh realities of domain name selling. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
