Afilias is Likely “One and Done” with 101Domain Buyout

Firm doesn’t expect to acquire other domain name registrars any time soon.
Last Friday, domain name registrar 101Domain disclosed that it had been purchased by domain name registry Afilias.
It’s Afilias’ first buyout of a domain name registrar. An Afilias spokesperson told Reglike that the firm does not plan to acquire any other registrars in the near future, so don’t expect a big roll up from the firm.
Although it is the firm’s first buyout, Afilias by now owns a registrar called iDomains.
One reason Afilias purchased 101Domain is since it provides distribution for Afilias’ restricted TLDS that are hard to place with registrars, such as .Organic, the spokesperson stated.
The firm expects 101Domain to continue operating like it is today.
