Amazon is launching three fresh top level domains next month

The long wait is over for .free, .hot, and .spot.

In the better-late-than-never category, Amazon is preparing to launch three top level domains from the 2012 round of domain expansion.
On April 2, the firm will open sunrise for .free, .hot, and .spot.
The domains will go through a Dutch auction-style early access period May 12-17. Expect day-one pricing around $6,000, dropping to $3,000ish the second day and regarding $200 on the final day. (Registrars set their own pricing.)
Then, on May 19, the domains will open up for general availability. As an idea of pricing, domain registrar 101Domain will charge $44.99 for .free, $59.99 for .hot, and $29.99 for .spot
Amazon won a private resolution between five firms for the rights to run .free and three firms for .hot. The firm paid $2.2 million in an ICANN auction for .spot, beating Google and Dotspot LLC.
