Apple files complaint over iTunes.net

Firm requests transfer of domain name.

[Update: Apple won the case.] Apple has filed a complaint with World Intellectual Property Organization over the iTunes.net domain name.

The domain has long been a parked domain name with links related to downloading music, so it’s not clear to me why the firm is suddenly making a move for the domain name. The current parked page has links exclusively regarding MP3, iPhones, iPod, and downloading music.

The current registration of the domain name dates to March 1, 2004. Still, there was an earlier registration dating to 1999.

It appears that the current registrant of the domain name bought it from BuyDomains in 2006.

Apple owns iTunes.com but not iTunes.org.
