ICANN has published its proposed contract extension with Neustar for .biz.

It mirrors recently-published proposed contracts for .org and .info by removing price controls and adding Uniform Rapid Suspension, a quick form of UDRP.

ICANN clearly wants to create uniformity between top level domain name contracts. It is basing this on the contract used for fresh top level domains in the 2012 expansion.

Still, consumers that registered these pre-2012 top level domains did so with some sort of anticipation that prices wouldn’t skyrocket following they started using them. Also, ICANN is pushing through rights protection mechanisms introduced in 2012 even though they are just now being reviewed by the internet community.

A comment period is open until May 14.
