Hold second Dominion event in Las Vegas in January — D3 to

Event seeks to bridge web2 and web3.

Domain name and blockchain firm D3 is holding Dominion 2025 in Las Vegas, January 29-30, 2025.

The event will occur immediately following the Internet Commerce Association event and at the same venue, Resorts World.

Many initiatives, protocols, and ventures are trying to connect domain names to blockchain technology. The focus has shifted from “blockchain will replace the traditional domain name system” to “blockchain can work with the traditional DNS,” and I think this latter paradigm is more likely to succeed.

D3 has been at the forefront of this shift, even declining to call the names it right now offers domains and using a * rather than a . in them, e.g., name*ape.

The firm plans to apply for real top level domains to match these in the next round, and other firms are trying to do the same.

D3 calls its overall vision DomainFi.

I expect firms like D3 to be among the biggest applicants for fresh TLDs in the next round, making this conference very relevant. I will attend and lead a panel.
