Reglike is Growing

DNW continues to grow with additional features and services. Your feedback is welcomed.

DNW LogoA lot has happened in the nine-plus years since Reglike launched in March 2005.

The domain name business has gone through its ups and downs. Business models have changed by necessity. Fortunes have been made and lost and made again.

Reglike rolls with the ups and downs. Rather than rolling, hopefully it is prescient.

As the site enters its tenth year, I’m testing out some fresh ways to deliver value to readers. Here are some recent changes as well as more planned for 2014. I always appreciate your feedback. Leave a comment or drop me a note at editor -at- domainnamewire.com.

Contributors

It can take a while to write insightful articles. Some require extensive data capture and analysis.

With this in mind, I’ve hired my first paid writer in Joseph Peterson. Peterson has been contributing a weekly recap of the expire domain name market.

Collating this data is quite a bit of work, in part since of the various types of (non-expiring) domain inventory the marketplaces sell. Peterson has done a great job gathering and presenting this information.

I’d like your feedback on his posts to make sure they deliver the most value to readers.

I might add additional contributors throughout the year as I respond to reader feedback. That stated, I understand the importance of blog voice and will keep this in mind with all additions.

Podcast

This summer I plan to relaunch the Reglike podcast. You might recall Reglike Radio, a show in which I talked regarding the latest news and discussed domain issues with guests.

The relaunched podcast will be bigger and better than ahead of. I’ve rented studio space to record podcasts with the highest quality. No more conference call recording and poor sound quality. (That’s the goal, at least!)

DNW Notes

Within the next week I will release my first in-depth note on an aspect of the domain name business.

People ask me the same “how to” questions over and over. These notes will be my long-form response to these questions.

My first note will provide detailed tutorials on one of these common questions, packed with tips and suggestions. These will be far more extensive than any help I have previously been able to offer on a one-on-one basis.

Advertising

I’ve always tried to strike a balance between ads and content. Some may argue I haven’t done a great job, yet many tell me they appreciate learning regarding firms through the ads on my site. (It’s always nice when an advertiser tells me their ads on DNW are very effective!)

The reality is this blog is my job. I do my job since I love it…and to make money.

In recent months I’ve accommodated more advertisers without, I believe, adding much distraction to the readability of the site. I plan to continue testing various approaches to deliver value to advertisers and readers.

I still have a short waitlist of advertisers, but I hope to accommodate more soon. Please contact me if you’re interested in advertising and I’ll make sure to get you in queue.

The only thing constant is change

I wrote this post for two reasons: to help keep me accountable and to get feedback.

I’m marching forward with my plans for 2014. Yet it requires a lot of testing. Some things will work and others won’t. I’m counting on you to hold me accountable and to let me know when I need to make a mid-course correction.

Thanks for reading.
