Pot got its name (and domain) — How Instant

Inventor created program to find synonyms.
Instant Brands Inc., maker of the popular Instant Pot cooking appliance, is merging with housewares firm Corelle Brands LLC.
Ottawa Citizen has the story on how Instant Pot inventor Robert Wang came up with the name for the now iconic device:
He tested recipes with his family and turned to computer science to come up with a name. Following writing a program that matched synonyms for “fast” with synonyms for “cooker,” Wang arrived on Instant Pot. Luckily, the domain name was still available.
The story has some other interesting info regarding how Wang was able to build the business thanks to Amazon.
In an upcoming episode of the DNW Podcast I will interview a firm and product namer and discuss some of the tools you can use to create fresh names.
