Next Microsoft Surface the Remix? — Is the
Microsoft registers Surface Remix domain names.
I have to admit I haven’t paid much attention to Microsoft’s tablets. I always see the name Microsoft Surface RT and think “ReTweet”.
But Microsoft registered a few domain names the prior week that might tip off the name of its next Surface tablet – or at least something related to it.
The firm registered SurfaceRemix.com and .net/.org as well as SurfaceRemixProject.com and .net/.org.
Had the firm just registered the SurfaceRemix domain name I’d think this might be the name for its next tablet. But the project domains make me question that a bit. A project could be nothing more than a marketing campaign, software update, etc.
Microsoft also neglected to register some obvious domains, such as microsoftsurfaceremix.com, that you’d think the firm would register if it was planning a fresh product by this name.
[Update: it looks like Microsoft will reveal its fresh Surface 2 devices later this month, so the timing suggests it is related.]
