Tiny island territory relaunches .pn on modern platform.

Picairn Island

An island territory with only 35 fulltime residents is relaunching its country code domain name today.

Pitcairn Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific Ocean, has opened registration for its .pn domain.

While the domain has been around for a while, registrations were handled manually. That didn’t stop some firms from registering the domains when it was a perfect fit. For example, ESPN registered es.pn.

But today, the .pn domain goes live on a modern, automated system using Nominet’s registry platform as its backend technical provider.

The registry is pitching many possible uses for the name, such as cryptocurrency firms and AI businesses (with PN being short for “Prompt Network”)

Registrations are available for $129 per year at EnCirca and register.pn.
