MessageBird purchases Bird.com

Messaging platform purchased bird.com following an auction sale last year fell through.

MessageBird, an omnichannel communications platform, has purchased the domain name Bird.com.
Last year, the domain appeared to have sold in an auction for $2.5 million but the sale fell through.
In November last year, I noticed the Whois for the domain changed. The seller and Monte Cahn of Right of the Dot confirmed the domain name sold but could not provide further details. Right of the Dot held the original auction for the domain and brokered the transaction to MessageBird.
One commenter on Reglike suggested that MessageBird might be the buyer since the Whois record reflected an owner in the Netherlands, where MessageBird is located. That person was correct.
The domain entered the Pending Transfer state the prior week and moved to MarkMonitor. The updated Whois record reflects MessageBird B.V. as the owner.
As of right now, bird.com does not forward to MessageBird.com.
Over 25,000 firms use MessageBird’s platform, counting Facebook, Uber and Airbnb.
