Firm purchased domain following publicly discussing a rebrand.
Online business marketplace MicroAcquire paid $240,000 to acquire the acquire.com domain name, counting the commissions it paid.
MicroAcquire founder Andrew Gazdecki stated the purchase price was $2,000,000 in response to a question on Twitter today:
We paid $2,000,000 for https://t.co/Bm9dObnlkY.

He later stated it was actually $200,000. I guess it was some sort of joke. The actual price was regarding $240,000 counting brokerage fees.
The firm purchased the domain name following publicly disclosing plans to rebrand as Acquire. The firm started as a platform for buying and selling very modest businesses but has now expanded to handle larger deals, so the “micro” is misleading.
I interviewed Gazdecki on Reglike Podcast #387.
This story has been updated to reflect that the original tweet regarding paying $2 million for the domain was not correct. It was $240,000.
