NameJet Expired Domain Sales Spark an iGaming Gold Rush

Many expired domains are being purchased to funnel traffic to online casinos.

Back with the July SnapNames sales list, and the dominant theme is clear: more domains are being repurposed for gambling sites.

This pattern highlights how often expiring domains with existing traffic and backlinks end up in the iGaming sector. In the past you frequently saw expired domains from closed restaurants or small organizations repurposed as affiliate sites for kitchenware, CBD products, or other retail offers. Over time Google shifted the search landscape, elevating established publishers and authoritative review sites in search results and making it harder for tiny affiliate sites built on aged domains to rank.

That shift pushed some operators toward different tactics, but the result remains the same: many valuable expired domains are now redirected, rebuilt, or reissued as casino-related properties. Below are notable July sales that illustrate this trend.

GoodwoodBrewing.com sold for $6,086 at SnapNames

This domain, previously associated with brewery-related content, was acquired and converted into a Turkish gambling site. What makes it notable is how quickly it began ranking for high-volume Turkish gambling keywords.

Keywords it ranked for in one month included and delivered substantial estimated monthly traffic:

Keyword Volume/mo Position Est. traffic
güvenilir bahis siteleri 122,000 1 90,310
bonus veren siteler 126,000 1 37,301
deneme bonusu veren siteler 75,000 1 27,661
deneme bonusu 35,000 2 9,703
yatırımsız deneme bonusu 5,800 1 9,591
deneme bonus 26,000 1 9,286
çevrimsiz deneme bonusu veren siteler 11,000 1 7,526

All of this occurred in a single month. Prior to the sale, the site typically attracted roughly 2,000–4,000 organic visits per month from brewery-related queries. After the domain expired, it sold at auction for about $6,000, and the following month organic visits surged dramatically to roughly half a million.

Some SEOs argue that such spikes are short-lived and that Google will eventually penalize aggressive tactics. That may be true in many cases. Yet for operators in high-value niches like gambling, a single month with hundreds of thousands of organic visitors can justify relatively modest acquisition costs.

Technically, the buyers leveraged the expired domain as the authoritative root while spinning up multiple subdomains (for example, wc.goodwoodbrewing.com and wb.goodwoodbrewing.com) to run separate campaigns. This approach benefits from the domain’s history and backlink profile while isolating campaigns so an issue on one subdomain does not immediately compromise all activity. Eventually Google appeared to take action against the broader domain and the peak proved temporary, but the short-term value was significant.

AfroPunk.com sold for $9,250 at NameJet

AfroPunk.com is a name strongly associated with a cultural movement and had a high-quality backlink profile from major outlets. The domain sold for under $10,000, which surprised some observers given its authoritative referring domains.

Rather than relaunching as a full site, this domain currently redirects to a casino site. In many cases buyers use respected domains as redirect sources to pass authority to a gambling property.

Infinite-Energy.com sold for $6,501 at NameJet

Infinite-Energy.com now redirects to a French casino. Given the redirect destination and timing, it’s likely the same buyer or group acquired multiple domains to consolidate traffic. At the moment this domain does not appear to rank for any keywords.

xFront.com sold for $6,600 at SnapNames

This domain once hosted an XML tutorial and has been rebuilt with updated content and a modern design. Unlike many examples that move into iGaming, this one appears to be a legitimate rebuild: the owner is restoring pages and publishing new material, and the site is starting to pick up organic keywords more slowly and sustainably. Rebuilding an expired domain with quality content and steady growth can be a viable long-term strategy.

ConnorDavidson-ResilienceScale.com sold for $5,850 at NameJet

This domain relates to a specific psychological scale used to measure resilience. It has strong educational and medical backlinks. At present the site does not resolve consistently, but it ranks for some terms tied to the resilience scale. The purchase price suggests it was acquired for SEO value, though it is not currently being fully utilized.

Moovly.com sold for $5,805 at NameJet

Moovly had a high domain rating (DR 71) and was previously associated with a video creation product. At the time of reporting, it redirects to DropCatch.com. Interestingly, the domain also appeared in a later DropCatch auction for a higher price. This example underscores how the same domain can fetch different prices across marketplaces and how demand for valuable expired domains remains strong.

These sales show a range of outcomes: some buyers rebuild sites and pursue legitimate long-term SEO, while others convert domains into redirects or new properties aimed at high-value niches such as iGaming. Both approaches reflect strategies used to monetize expired domain authority.
